Module Search Engine Optimization

Hello, Hello! It is another day, another week. Finals week is fast approaching!

For class this week we had to read about Search Engine Optimization (SEO). I did not realize how often SEO is used nor the importance it has for companies’ website and web designers. SEO is the process of web designing and creating key terms that would be easily found while searching for a certain website or site page using a search engine.

For your website you want to have key words that will make it easier and faster for an user trying view your site . One of the reading we had assigned was (Infographic: Five SEO Strategies Every Company Needs to Master), which I thought informed me a lot with just 5 SEO strategies Below, are so tips from within the 5 strategies that I found to be helpful.

By reading the articles, for my website I will make it easy to navigate so my users can find what they are looking quickly and easily. I do not want to have my website difficult to search through, so I don’t lose users that view my site. With that said, reading about SEO, I plan on having my site organized and easy to follow.

Module #6

For this week, we had reading assignments and to create a 30 second video on iMovie for website that we are creating. I do not know a lot about iMovie but it is fun.

Module #5

Last week, in our Digital Writing and Production class we continued learning online coding. I think it is so cool. Even though we are learning just the basics of coding, I cannot imagine how complex coding can be, so kudos to software designers. It makes me appreciate those who produce such amazing things online and technology. This class has made me realize how important is to know how things work on the web since it is used by so many people across the world.

For this week we had to read about accessibility on the web. The following is a few sites that were assigned to the class to read:

The required readings were very useful with providing information on the importance of accessibility to those who have limited access and have disabilities.

Over the years, I did not realize while accessing many websites how effective and easy they were to use. Yet, someone who is blind cannot attain and view the same information as someone who is not blind. Both, web and software designers need to make websites more accessible to prevent accessibility barriers, “The Web is an increasingly important resource in many aspects of life: education, employment, government, commerce, health care, recreation, and more”( Not only will greater accessibility increase availability to users, but “Case studies show that accessible websites have better search results, reduced maintenance costs, and increased audience reach, among other benefits”(

For my website I have to consider people with epilepsy. I have to be careful and keep mind the intensity and frequencies of any flashes on my website because, “Some people with photosensitive epilepsy can have a seizure triggered by displays that flicker, flash, or blink” (

With all said, I could not think of anything about access and accessibility not being mentioned from the required reading assignments. I am sure there is more, but since this is my first time with all this, I would have to do more research.
